City Nightlife by MapleRose City Nightlife by MapleRose
Phew, finally finished.

Reasons I did this:
1. I got a duel-screen setup at work, and wanted a duel-screen wallpaper (those are so rare...)
2. I wanted to play around with Open Canvas :D

Anyway, in case you don't know, this is the skyline of Toronto Canada ^__^ . I vectored the basic outline of the city from a photo found via Google, extended the city 'cause the photo wasn't wide enough, then exported into Open Canvas 4.06 and painted the whole thing from scratch with the watercolour tool (<3), using a couple of reference pictures.

Doing the buildings one by one was tedious x_x ... so was doing the lights, but that was kinda fun at the same time... now my arm hurts... you can see at the edges is where I kinda gave up on perspective ^_^' ... and I don't like the reflections either DX

Download for the zip file with other resolutions (including single-display):
3200x1200
2560x1024
1920x1200
1600x1200
1280x1024

PSP8, Open Canvas 4.06, mouse, lots of hours...

Edit: Tutorial on how to paint the city lights

Hi! I was wondering if I might have your permission to print your image on a single t-shirt? Thanks for considering, Nancy

:O

Brilliant....that's just brilliant. I'm speechless about it.

As for the dome, could it be part of the roof where the Toronto Blue Jays play? (I thought they play in stadium, but I don't know. Know practically nothing about Toronto x.x)

aww, thank you ^^

yup, that dome is where the Jays play, it's called the Skydome (now the Roger's Center, but nobody likes to call it that ^^' ), and the roof can open up :)

That's most definitely Toronto there with that tower. What's the dome?

Yeah, you spent many days painting this. Congrat's! :) Rest your arm now, heh? XD I'll save this for when I get a duel-screen. Beautiful painting. It's so detailed with the lights on the skyscrapers and their reflections in the water. I like how you painted the gradient in the sky too.

yup, that's the CN tower :D The dome is the Skydome (now called the Roger's Center, but everyone still calls it the Skydome), it's where the Toronto Blue Jays play baseball, but it's also used for other purposes like concerts and stuff. I think it's the first stadium that has a retractible roof (the white thing can open up).

lol, yeah I'm gonna rest my arm, before going on to my next project.

well I did include other resolutions you can use :D

Thanks!
